Luis Quiel, MD, FACP, CPE is the Chief of Hospital Medicine at Lawrence General Hospital in Massachusetts and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Quiel is a senior physician executive and practicing clinician with 20 years of healthcare experience ranging from academic medical centers to independent community hospitals. As Chief of Hospital Medicine at Lawrence General Hospital he oversees a team of more than 30 Hospitalists providing care for patients at an independent hospital essential to serving a diverse community. He additionally leads Utilization Review and Utilization Management functions and is a highly active member of the medical staff and leadership team. In his time at Lawrence General and with other health systems he has driven improvements in quality and patient safety, clinical documentation, length of stay, patient satisfaction and team member recruitment and retention.
Dr. Quiel completed a fellowship in gastrointestinal nutrition at the University of Chicago Medical Center after his residency at New York Metropolitan Hospital and earning his medical degree at the University of Panama School of Medicine. He is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine, a Certified Physician Executive, and Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He has given numerous presentations and published extensively on clinical and administrative topics.
