Ken Chin, CMPE, is a highly accomplished healthcare executive with a proven track record of success in medical practice administration. As a Board Certified Medical Practice Executive through the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), he was nationally recognized as their 2021 Legislative Liaison of the Year. Additionally, Ken serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Illinois’ Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree program.
With over 14 years of experience in healthcare administration, Ken has demonstrated expertise in creating meaningful and lasting impact. He most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer at Portland Mental Health & Wellness in Oregon. Prior to that, he held leadership positions as the Director of Operations at a mental health group in Chicago, Practice Administrator at UroPartners (the largest independent urology group in the Midwest), and Practice Manager and Marketing Director at The Running Institute (Chicago’s premier sports medicine practice).
Throughout his career, Ken actively engaged in advocacy work as the Legislative Liaison and Committee Chair for the Illinois MGMA until 2022. He successfully championed positive changes in healthcare legislation at both the state and national levels. Ken diligently monitored and disseminated important legislative updates to healthcare professionals across the state in collaboration with the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) and the National MGMA Government Affairs team.
Ken’s passion lies in building successful organizations through fostering referral relationships, identifying operational gaps for more efficient workflows, cultivating a positive team culture, and prioritizing exceptional patient/client care. His leadership style centers around leading by example, grounded in his high emotional intelligence (EQ). He values authentic and engaging relationships, maintaining integrity, and coaching teams through adversity to empower them as individuals while fostering a cohesive culture.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Ken has a diverse range of interests. He is a professionally trained classical musician who played the clarinet and had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall six times as a child. Additionally, he is a retired four-time IRONMAN triathlete and marathon runner, achieving personal bests of 13:00 and 3:59, respectively.
Ken lives in the charming town of Happy Valley, located in the Portland metropolitan area of Oregon, with his husband, two bichons, and his retired mother.
