David Coil, D.O.

Goshen Physicians

David L. Coil, DO, was appointed Medical Director of Goshen Physicians in 2020. He
joined Goshen Health in 1999 as a board-certified family medicine physician
at Goshen Physicians Osteopathic Family Clinic Nappanee. A few years after
starting to practice medicine, he was appointed president of the Osteopathic
Medical Foundation.
In his current role, Coil works with the Vice President of Goshen Physicians to
develop and grow the physician enterprise. He is responsible for helping build
a medical practice culture that is patient-centered. Coil leads in the review and
improvement process of both providers and programs; provides for provider
continuing education and skill building; and chairs the Leadership Council of
Goshen Physicians Provider Network.
A FEW HIGHLIGHTS OF COIL’S WORK WITH GOSHEN HEALTH
• Created a provider-governed leadership council for Goshen Physicians
ensuring that all providers have a voice within the network.
• Formulated a collaborative partnership between primary care providers and
specialty care providers to improve the rate of in-network referrals to over
90 percent.
• Developed a mentorship program for providers to improve recruitment and
retention of providers within the network.
• Developed a provider-led informatics committee to create provider-driven
improvement planning within our EMR.
• Led the Meditech Provider Action Committee to transition to a new EMR.
• Led strategic improvement planning to develop individual provider action plans
to improve the organization's financial foundation.
